There is no secret in the Chiropractic Universe that we Chiropractors believe that the Nervous System is...ALL about LIFE ! Yet, few people really know what that means or how this knowledge can actually make a HUGE IMPACT upon their own lives.
Well, this just happens to be my most favorite topic! I am more than happy to elaborate how important a properly functioning Nervous System is to your life on a moment to moment basis.
In principle Chiropractic is very simple.
In scientific terms, Chiropractic is complex.
In practical day to day applications, Chiropractic is very real and functional.
It's the misconceptions that people carry about Chiropractic that seem to muddle up an individuals' understanding of how Chiropractic truly works.
So, let's get the facts straight:
The Nervous System orders all of the functions of the body. This means that the Nervous System actually directs the Immune, Digestive, Respiratory, Reproductive, Circulatory, and Endocrine Systems.
So, for example, if the nerves coming from your brain that connect to the lymph nodes are malfunctioning, the lymph cells will not consistently identify pathogens to be removed from the body and a viral illness may ensue or perhaps the lymph will not drain easily and congestion occurs.
If the nerves that enter the lungs are compromised a common effect are that individuals may suffer from asthma, bronchitis, shortness of breath etc. A well placed chiropractic adjustment can often alleviate these symptoms.
An improper connection to the secretory cells of the stomach may create an improper balance of enzymes during digestion. The small or large intestine may be compromised and nutrients that are ingested may not be absorbed appropriately.
The heart can beat irregularly if the nerves going to this very important organ are either over stimulated or under stimulated. Circulation in the arms or legs may not function well and edema (swelling) may occur. The list goes on because... the Nervous System controls all these things and much more.
If the Nervous System is severely damaged, as with trauma, paralysis will occur. Life will end abruptly with a severing of the spinal cord from the brain. For many of us, however, the bumps and bruises we experience are not traumatic and we are able to go on without noticing whether our Nervous System is working up to par - at least until pain begins to speak otherwise.
It's true that Chiropractic care is most often associated with back pain relief. Yet, I'm here to tell you that proper adjustments throughout your life time can offer you so much more than pain relief. It can offer you Life, the Universe and Everything! Doesn't that sound AMAZING?
